Guidelines for Nomination

  1. The proposal for award will be considered only for those projects/plans proposed by the city/parastatal which have been either implemented fully or substantially. In order to give time to the cities for implementation of Comprehensive Mobility Plans, awards for CMPs will be implemented a few years hence.
  2. The Award for Overall Excellence in Urban Transport in a City would be based on the progress of implementation of various facets of National Urban Transport Policy and mainly the following:
    1. Whether implementation of a Comprehensive Mobility Plan is in progress.
    2. Whether a citywide public transport system has been planned and is being introduced as per an approved program.
    3. Whether intermodal and seamless connectivity is a part of item (b)
    4. Whether facilities for NMT are being provided as part of item (b)
    5. Whether benchmarking of Service Level Benchmarks on Urban Transport has been done and what is the improvement thereof.
  3. Projects selected for awards in previous years would not be eligible for awards again.
  4. A committee or a group of members of the ‘Awards Committee’ would undertake a visit to the city/cities being considered for the award of Overall Excellence in Urban Transport in a City to help get first-hand knowledge of the achievements claimed by the city in support of their entry for the awards in this category.
  5. The last date for submission of forms is 30th September 2010.

  7. The awardees will be selected by a committee of experts constituted by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.
